NTI offers first and second year teachers professional development sessions, informational sessions, planning time, and spaces to connect with your new colleagues. Attendance at the New Teacher Institute is expected for all teachers who are both new to teaching and new to OUSD. Attendance is strongly encouraged for returning teachers who are entering their second or third years in the classroom.

Build Your Schedule
July 29-30: Classroom Culture
Select one of two morning workshops on Creating Strong Classroom Culture and then build your afternoon schedule from the range of offerings listed.

July 31-August 2: Content & Curriculum
Choose the workshops aligned to your grade level and content area. Note: If the same workshop is listed on multiple days (i.e. Middle School English Language Arts), you will need to register for it each day that you plan to attend.

The Parent Teacher Home Visit (PTHV) model is a voluntary home visit practice that helps teachers and parents work together for student success. The PTHV model is a research based family engagement practice that builds the cultural capacity of the teachers, families and students involved, by breaking down implicit bias and cultivating authentic relationships, communication, and academic partnership.
