NTI offers first and second year teachers professional development sessions, informational sessions, planning time, and spaces to connect with your new colleagues. Attendance at the New Teacher Institute is expected for all teachers who are both new to teaching and new to OUSD.Attendance is strongly encouraged for returning teachers who are entering their second or third years in the classroom.
Register for the Event Click on "Sign Up" at the top of the page. This will take you through the initial step of registering for the event. This should be done BEFORE you create your schedule below.
Build Your Schedule July 29-30: Classroom Culture Select one of two morning workshops on Creating Strong Classroom Culture and then build your afternoon schedule from the range of offerings listed.
July 31-August 2: Content & Curriculum Choose the workshops aligned to your grade level and content area. Note: If the same workshop is listed on multiple days (i.e. Middle School English Language Arts), you will need to register for it each day that you plan to attend.

Are you a teacher who has not yet enrolled in a credential program? We will dig into the credential journey, from emergency permit to holding a Clear credential. You will understand what your responsibilties are during the school year so you can advance to the next stage of credentialing. We will also be sharing the resources of support that OUSD has available to you.
Miguel is a graduate of Oakland Schools, and has served the OUSD community in a variety of roles in Central Office. Miguel is a member of the Credentials Team in Talent.
