NTI offers first and second year teachers professional development sessions, informational sessions, planning time, and spaces to connect with your new colleagues. Attendance at the New Teacher Institute is expected for all teachers who are both new to teaching and new to OUSD. Attendance is strongly encouraged for returning teachers who are entering their second or third years in the classroom.

Build Your Schedule
July 29-30: Classroom Culture
Select one of two morning workshops on Creating Strong Classroom Culture and then build your afternoon schedule from the range of offerings listed.

July 31-August 2: Content & Curriculum
Choose the workshops aligned to your grade level and content area. Note: If the same workshop is listed on multiple days (i.e. Middle School English Language Arts), you will need to register for it each day that you plan to attend.

Understanding the DRDP (Desired Results Developmental Profile)

All ECE educators use the DRDPs as a foundational assessment tool. Participants will use this time to complete online DRDP modules: introduction to the DRDPs, how to observe, document, and rate students, how the DRDPs are connected to the CA Foundations and finally how to use them in lesson planning.
