NTI offers first and second year teachers professional development sessions, informational sessions, planning time, and spaces to connect with your new colleagues. Attendance at the New Teacher Institute is expected for all teachers who are both new to teaching and new to OUSD. Attendance is strongly encouraged for returning teachers who are entering their second or third years in the classroom.

Build Your Schedule
July 29-30: Classroom Culture
Select one of two morning workshops on Creating Strong Classroom Culture and then build your afternoon schedule from the range of offerings listed.

July 31-August 2: Content & Curriculum
Choose the workshops aligned to your grade level and content area. Note: If the same workshop is listed on multiple days (i.e. Middle School English Language Arts), you will need to register for it each day that you plan to attend.

Join us for a dynamic and transformative one-day professional development experience tailored exclusively for math teachers within the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). Our PD Day is designed to help you strengthen your teaching skills, connect with colleagues, and align your instructional strategies with the OUSD K-12 Math Framework. Through this engaging and collaborative event, you will leave with valuable insights, tools, and a clear vision for the upcoming academic year.

Dante is the STEM Coordinator for Network 2. This year will be his 13th with OUSD. He began his employment in OUSD as an elementary school principal for a dual language school. Prior to working in OUSD he was a middle school Math/Science teacher and Math Coach.
